The chief information officer or other key technology executive with another title who is responsible for overall information technology from cities and counties with population over 100,000 is eligible for membership in MIX
Applicants for membership should support the aims of MIX and be committed to participate in the organization's activities. Such commitment includes participating in the annual survey, joining the listerv discussion group, contributing to the biannual newsletter, and attending the annual conference.

In an email, or snail-mail letter, provide the following information:
- Give a brief description of your jurisdiction and information technology (IT) organization. Include the number of employees and total budget of both the jurisdiction and IT.
- Specify the services you provide (e.g., systems development, operations and telephones).
- Provide a brief description of your information technology delivery architectures including areas such as CPUs, servers, software and standards.
- Your name, title, address, phone number, fax number and email address.
